Reveal Radiant Skin with IPL Photo-rejuvenation for Pigmentation

Uneven skin tone, sunspots, freckles or general dullness can leave your complexion looking tired and aged – even if your skincare is on point. If you’re ready to hit refresh on your skin, IPL Photorejuvenation might just be the glow-up your skin needs.

At Facial Impressions, we offer advanced IPL pigmentation treatments designed to restore clarity, even tone, and radiant skin – all with minimal downtime.

What Is IPL Photorejuvenation?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light to target pigmentation and sun damage deep within the skin.

The light energy is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in freckles, sunspots, and age spots. This process gently heats and breaks down excess pigment without harming the surrounding skin. Over the following days, the pigment naturally rises to the surface and flakes away – leaving behind a clearer, more luminous complexion.

What Can IPL Help With?

IPL Photorejuvenation is ideal for treating:

  • Freckles and sunspots

  • Age spots and pigmentation

  • Redness or uneven skin tone

  • Dull or tired-looking skin

  • Signs of sun damage

It’s most effective on fair to medium skin tones with visible pigmentation concerns caused by sun exposure or ageing. Please note: IPL is not suitable for melasma or deeper skin tones, as it may cause uneven pigment response.

What to Expect From Your Treatment

Before Your Appointment

To get the best results and avoid complications, we recommend:

  • Avoiding sun exposure and tanning (natural or fake) for at least 2 weeks

  • Pausing active skincare like retinol, AHA/BHAs, and exfoliants for 3–5 days

  • Wearing a daily SPF of 30+ leading up to your appointment

During the Session

You’ll feel a warm snap or flick against the skin as the light is delivered – it’s often described as a rubber band flick. The treatment is quick and generally well-tolerated.

After Treatment

The area may look slightly red or feel warm for a few hours. Pigmented spots will likely darken in the days that follow – this is normal and expected. They will naturally fade or flake off within 5–10 days, revealing brighter, more even skin underneath.

You’ll need to:

  • Avoid sun exposure and heat for 48 hours

  • Gently care for the skin and avoid exfoliating until shedding has finished

  • Apply SPF daily to protect your results

When Will I See Results?

You’ll begin to see improvements after your very first session – including smoother texture and a brighter tone. However, most clients require a course of 3–4 sessions, spaced 3–4 weeks apart, for the best outcome.

Each session builds on the last, progressively fading pigmentation and restoring your skin’s natural radiance.
