Before your tan

Skin preparation

Exfoliate at least 4 hours before your appointment using an oil-free exfoliator with organic and natural ingredients
Shave before your appointment, not after
Shower and exfoliate your hands too -- they are often forgotten
If you must shower right before, finish with a cold rinse to close your pores

Arrive with clean, product-free skin

No moisturiser -- even on hands or elbows
No deodorant
Do not wash your hair or use conditioner beforehand -- residue can leave a film on your skin

What to wear

Bring loose-fitting, dark clothing to change into after -- no denim, no yoga pants, no tight underwear or bras
Thongs or open shoes are ideal

After your tan

First few hours

Wash your palms and hands after 15 minutes to avoid excess colour
Wash your face gently after 30 minutes
Wait 1 to 2 hours before showering -- or up to 3 hours for a deeper result

Your first shower

Rinse gently -- wash until the water runs completely clear
Do not wash your hair in this first shower
If using soap or body wash, make sure it is tan-friendly
Do not worry if the colour rinses off -- that is the bronzer. Your tan is developing underneath
The DHA in your tan continues to develop for up to 24 hours after your shower. Avoid swimming, sweating, or tight clothing during this time for the best result.
