Laser Toning Facial.
Gradual brightening.

A gentle, progressive pigment-correcting laser treatment designed to brighten, refine and even your complexion -- safely and comfortably, without peeling or significant downtime.

Our Laser Toning Facial uses Q-Switch 1064nm technology to deliver rapid, low-energy pulses into the skin. These photo-mechanical pulses break down excess pigment while stimulating collagen renewal -- helping create clearer, smoother and more luminous skin over time. It is one of our favourite treatments at Facial Impressions for clients wanting visible brightening without recovery time.

How Laser Toning works

Laser Toning uses the Q-Switch 1064nm laser to deliver ultra-short nanosecond pulses of energy deep into the dermis. Unlike heat-based laser treatments, the Q-Switch works through photo-mechanical action rather than thermal energy -- meaning it shatters pigment particles rather than burning them.

The fragmented pigment is then naturally removed by the body over the following days and weeks. At the same time, the energy reaching the deeper skin layers stimulates collagen and elastin production -- improving skin quality from within, not just on the surface.

Because the approach works with minimal thermal damage, there is little to no downtime, the risk of post-treatment pigmentation is low, and the treatment is safer for a wider range of skin tones than traditional IPL or ablative laser options.

Results are gradual and progressive -- each session builds on the last, with brightening and refinement accumulating over a course of treatments. Most clients notice a difference after 2 to 3 sessions.

Overall skin brightening

Laser Toning is particularly well suited to clients with pigmentation concerns -- including melasma, hormonal pigmentation, post-inflammatory marks and sun damage -- where traditional IPL may not be appropriate, or where previous treatments have not produced lasting results.

Because the Q-Switch works through photo-mechanical action with minimal thermal energy, it is safer for darker skin tones and for clients who have found heat-based treatments too aggressive for their skin.

Before your first Laser Toning session, we recommend a consultation so we can assess your pigmentation, discuss your goals and confirm the most appropriate course. The MoreMe AI skin analyser can be used at this stage to provide a detailed picture of your skin and guide the treatment plan.

Common questions

IPL uses broad-spectrum light and thermal energy to target pigmentation. Laser Toning uses a Q-Switch laser that works through photo-mechanical action -- shattering pigment particles rather than heating them. This means less thermal damage, lower risk of post-treatment pigmentation, and greater safety across a wider range of skin tones. It is particularly preferred for melasma and hormonal pigmentation, where heat-based treatments can sometimes worsen the condition.
A course of 4 to 8 sessions is recommended for meaningful, lasting brightening. Sessions are typically spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart. Your therapist will assess your pigmentation at the consultation and give you a clear recommendation based on your skin.
Very little. Mild flushing is the most common response and typically settles within a few hours. Some clients experience mild temporary darkening of pigmented spots as the fragmented melanin moves toward the surface -- this is a normal sign the treatment is working and resolves within days. Most clients return to work and normal activities the same day.
Yes. Because the Q-Switch laser works through photo-mechanical rather than thermal action, it carries a lower risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation than heat-based treatments. This makes it one of the safer options for clients with medium to darker complexions. We will always conduct a thorough assessment before your first session to confirm suitability.
Before: Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks prior. Arrive with clean, product-free skin. After: Daily SPF 50+ is essential throughout your course and for at least 4 weeks after your final session. Avoid direct sun, retinols and active exfoliants for 5 to 7 days after each session.
Yes. Laser Toning pairs well with the MoreMe AI skin analysis, which can be used before your course begins to map your pigmentation in detail. It can also be combined with Sothys illuminating treatments between laser sessions to support results. Your therapist will advise on the best approach at your consultation.
