LED Light Therapy

LED Light Therapy at Facial Impressions uses the Celluma PRO device — a clinically proven, non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular activity in the skin and body. It treats a wide range of concerns including skin rejuvenation, acne, pigmentation, fine lines, joint pain and muscle recovery, with no needles, no downtime and no discomfort.

LED can be booked as a standalone treatment or added to any facial appointment. A course of sessions is recommended for sustained results — ask about our personalised skin plans with flexible payment options.

How LED Light Therapy Works

LED Light Therapy works through a process called photobiomodulation — specific wavelengths of light energy are absorbed by cells in the skin and body, triggering a series of natural biological responses. Different wavelengths penetrate to different depths and stimulate different cellular processes.

At Facial Impressions we use the Celluma PRO — a clinically validated, FDA-cleared LED device that delivers blue, red and near-infrared light in a flexible panel that conforms closely to the face or body being treated. This close proximity maximises the delivery of light energy to the target tissue.

Treatment is painless and requires no anaesthetic, no needles and no downtime. The skin is cleansed before each session, and a serum, moisturiser and SPF are applied to finish. A course of treatments is recommended for sustained results — LED can also be added to any facial appointment as an enhancement.

Blue light Targets acne-causing bacteria. Reduces active breakouts and oiliness.
Red light Stimulates collagen production. Reduces inflammation and fine lines.
Near-infrared Penetrates deepest. Supports tissue repair, joint pain and muscle recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

LED light therapy works through photobiomodulation — specific wavelengths of light are absorbed by cells, stimulating a series of natural biological responses. Blue light targets acne-causing bacteria near the surface. Red light penetrates deeper to stimulate collagen production and reduce inflammation. Near-infrared light reaches the deepest — supporting tissue repair, joint health and muscle recovery. Each wavelength triggers a different cellular response, which is why LED can address such a wide range of concerns.
LED light therapy is completely painless. There is no heat, no UV radiation and no sensation during treatment beyond a gentle warmth in some cases. It is one of the most comfortable treatments we offer and is suitable for even sensitive or reactive skin.
For skin concerns, clinical studies have shown that a consistent course of sessions — typically 10 or more over several weeks — produces the most meaningful improvements in skin quality, collagen density and acne. For body and joint concerns, the number of sessions varies depending on the condition. As a standalone maintenance treatment, monthly sessions can help sustain results long-term. Kim can recommend the most appropriate schedule for your goals at your consultation.
Yes — LED works very well as an enhancement to other treatments. It can be added to any facial appointment at a reduced rate of $80. It pairs particularly well with skin needling (to support healing and reduce post-treatment redness), IPL Photo Rejuvenation (to calm the skin after treatment), and Sothys Intensive Treatments. Your therapist can advise on the best combination for your skin concern.
Yes. The Celluma PRO uses near-infrared light that penetrates beyond the skin into muscle tissue, joints and connective tissue. The Celluma PRO is FDA cleared for musculoskeletal pain relief, including arthritis, joint pain, muscle tension and injury recovery. If you are booking LED for a body or pain concern, please mention this at the time of booking so we can position the device appropriately and allow enough time.
LED light therapy has no known side effects when used as directed. There is no UV exposure, no heat damage and no disruption to the skin barrier. It is safe for all skin types including sensitive, rosacea-prone and post-procedure skin. A small number of clients may experience temporary mild redness immediately after treatment — this is uncommon and resolves quickly.
None. LED requires no downtime. You can return to your normal activities, apply makeup and go about your day immediately after treatment. It is one of the few treatments that can be used on skin that is already sensitised or recovering from another procedure.
LED is suitable for all skin types and tones. It is generally safe during pregnancy for skin treatments, though we recommend checking with your healthcare provider first. It is not recommended for clients who are taking photosensitising medications, have active epilepsy, or have certain eye conditions — your therapist will go through a brief health screening before your first session.
